Grand Large was designed and crafted during the final two years of my studies at the Edgar Faure Watchmaking School in Morteau. This timepiece represents both the culmination of two years of relentless work and the beginning of a long journey.

Inspired by the world of yachting—a universe that deeply resonates with me—the watch is conceived as a landscape. At six o’clock, a whale’s tail symbolizes calm and elegance, a reminder to slow down and take the time to appreciate what surrounds us. The hour display, inspired by the throttle levers of vintage boats, evokes the idea of taking control of one’s own course. The minute markers are designed in the shape of a boat’s helm.

The case plays with light through an alternation of finishes, highlighting the flowing curves of the piece. The hands, with a more traditional profile, create a bridge between classical watchmaking and the contemporary language of the dial. The 24-hour day–night complication introduces a poetic interpretation of time—an invitation to contemplate, to pause, and to embrace the spirit of open-sea holidays.

The movement, hand-angled with a file and finished with ceramic lacquer, traces a wave-like motion accentuated by fine blue outlines. Yachting, a subtle balance between sportiness and elegance, guided the overall conception of the watch: designed to be comfortable on the wrist, water-resistant, and yet unmistakably refined.
